WWM Monthly Report - May/June 2009
Well June proved to be an exceptionally busy time, the weather playing no small part in getting people out to club events…thanks to all that put the effort in to come up with and organise events for example…
23rd May WWM Shooting Day - Dawn & Malc Rees

Our day started with a very sunny morning and a convoy from Nuneaton to Henley in Arden, cars joined us on the way bringing the total to 10 for the scenic route to the March Hare Leisure complex at Broughton Hackett. Here we were joined by the Bickley family and Adrian Venn, we had 15 participants and 3 spectators. After coffee and a chat we were separated into 2 teams, led by Steve G and Roy B. The 3 ladies opted to all be in Roy's team as it was not in anyway competitive Steve quickly picked the strongest contenders for his team! Steve's team were named Bullzeye and Roy's team opted to name themselves 'The Winners' (hoping it would not proved to be a bad omen).
The 2 groups then went their separate ways, with their score sheets and did 12 Bird Clay Pigeon Shooting and .22 Rifle shooting. Luckily for Roy's team Jon Barnes was a cracking shot on the Clay’s hitting 12 out of 12. The coaches even persuaded Ginny and Jayne who were spectators to have a shot at the clays, well done. After lunch we tried our hands at Combat shooting, with CO2 powered pistols and Archery. Despite struggling with his hayfever, Tom Bickley got better and better at shooting as the day progressed.

We returned to the lodge for a quick water pistol fight while the scores were added up. George Guest was definitely the best shot with the water pistols. Then came the awards for the top performers. Roy's aptly named ''Winners' team were victorious with Jon, Tom, Adrian and Dawn all getting awards as top shots. Tom was also the overall top scorer for the day. Anthony Snookes dad Tony also got a top scorer award for the other team. Roy celebrated his teams glory with some fizz.
We survived our first attempt at organising an event and even managed top weather. The March Hare team asked for some photo's and thanked us for a great day. Perhaps next time will we ask them to arrange a 4X4 Off Road Track and Quads day or maybe let the men try the Assault course!
7th June Black Boy Meeting Knowle - Dave Elsgood
The first meeting held after reaching an agreement on a second venue for the Warwickshire and West Midlands was a wet affair. After almost two days of torrential rain a small window opened up on Sunday and a few cars ventured out. Keith had organised one of his runs out starting with breakfast at the Long Itchington Diner. A tour through the Cotswolds followed arriving at the Black Boy via the Fish and Anchor Offenham, which opened up early for the thirsty TVR boys and girls.
A true family meet took place culminating with 14 of us sitting down to sample some of the great food on offer. There was Craig in his Chimaera with wife Linda and little Charlie, Crispian and his daughter Mia. The Sags were out in force again with Dave Elsegood, Keith Smith, Lee Sindon and Paul Arnold all making an appearance. Two of the Sags sporting the new 19 inch wheel options from TVR Power. There would have been two Cerbys, that of Andrew and Al, had Al not left his at home (shame on you!). The Chimaeras of Frank & Pat Smith, Keith and Jane, and Malcolm made up the numbers for the day.
21st June Official Monthly Meeting Bulls Head Meriden - Steve Guest
Well nice to see a carpark full of TVR’s with 41 cars in attendance plus people like Blaine turning up for a chat and drink, we had a bumper crop of Cerbera’s, Sagaris’s and new members this month.
Welcome to new member Vanessa Lindley who was in the final stage of purchasing her Imperial Blue 400 Chimaera following a test drive to the monthly meet.
And welcome to John Armstrong and his son Angus who brought along their very original 430 Griffith in Formula Red, John doesn’t have far to come to the meeting so no excuses mate, his car was kept company by Roy Bickleys Apache Bronze Griffith 500 and Martin Brown (with son) with his Griffith 500HC.
The Cerbera ranks were swelled this month by new member Andy Martin with a 2000 plate Speed Six example in blue, there were two 420 Cerbera’s belonging to Mark Cramp and Andrew Burd and three 450 model’s belonging John Morris (cirby), Simon Dyke and me.
We don’t get enough early cars along to the meetings it was nice to chat with s-series owner Reg Morton who owns an S3C in Cobalt Blue, the car is a lovely example the engine bay is immaculate obviously the result of a lot of effort and is a credit to him, Reg was deep in conversation with Alan a fellow S owner from Nuneaton.
Maxine and Steve Frisby brought along their Tuscan, they told me of an epic journey they had completed touring Scotland, they had a great trip, had no issues whatsoever and were amazed by the compliments paid to their car everywhere they went, great stuff –I suggested they put together an article for Sprint watch this space.
We welcomed the spotless Mist Blue Chimaera belonging to Ian, fresh from Powers bodyshop the benefited from a later rear end and a number of other detailing mods which really make her stand out, another article in the offing.

28th June Supercar Sunday Gaydon - Frank Smith
Well what a fantastic day this turned out to be. After a very overcast Saturday the weather prediction for Sunday was much of the same, but after a very misty start the sun came through and stayed for the remainder of the day.
Meeting up at Warwick Services at 9.00am we were joined by some of the East Midlands contingent and set off to Gaydon with a convoy of some 20 plus TVRs. After we had caused a little mayhem in the public car park collecting our passes, and blagging a couple of extra cars in without passes, we proceeded to line up in our designated area.

Erecting numerous TVR flags and banners and the East Midlands gazebo, we looked very professional with a stunning array of cars. The Sagaris always attracts a lot of attention and this year was no exception with many more on display than previous years.
At midday saw the “noisiest exhaust contest” and Crispian and Craig entered their Chimaeras confident of one of them winning. Despite tremendous support from our members they were both knocked out early on, even before an MX 5, the boys will never live it down – I mean an MX 5!!!!

Next in the ring were the TVRs, Craig proceeded to demonstrate to the crowds how donuts should be done Tiff Needell style. Very impressive until he informed his wife that he now needed another set of rear tyres.
Steve then gave a chat about the club and also went down the line of cars explaining the various models and technical details keeping going for 20 odd minutes.

However the highlight of the day was the judging for Best Supercar, down to the public and against some very formidable competition, Lee Sindons Sagaris was victorious, a fantastic result well done Lee, great to see public putting TVR as being a true supercar.
Many thanks to everyone who came this year and I look forward to the next one.
